    Lupita Jiménez, M.S.

Lupita Jiménez is a student equity minded educator with over 8 years of professional experience combined in High School Outreach, Transfer Services, and EOPS/CARE Counseling. She is an ESL, first-generation, DACAmented, Latina graduate from Mt. San Antonio College (A.S. in Educational Paraprofessional), UCLA (B.A. in Spanish and Community and Culture) and CSULB (M.S. in Counseling: Student Development in Higher Education) with a great passion for challenging the educational pipeline of historically underrepresented students through transfer as a pathway to equity in education....

The absence of a Transfer Center Director at Mt. SAC for over four years gave her the opportunity to accumulate knowledge, innovation, program development and recognized leadership in the field of student and transfer services. Accolades include Mt. SAC’s President’s Award: Excellence and Innovation in Teaching and Learning through Outcomes Assessment, Academic Senate 10 + 1 Award in Student Preparation and Success, Student Services Division Starfish Award, and the Educator of Distinction Award. She has developed innovative student interventions and retention strategies that promote transfer student success such as specialized transfer workshops for Mt. SAC DREAM & EOPS students, an annual Transfer Conference , an annual Transfer Awareness Week , and an annual Transfer Application Bootcamp. Most recently, she developed Transfer Agents Trainings and co-led the development and implementation of Mt. SAC’s inaugural Transfer Symposium 2021 to engage the campus community in transfer advocacy to improve the transfer outcomes of students, especially those who fall in the equity gap in transfer achievement. In spring 2022, she was invited to present on those efforts at the annual California Community College Transfer Counselor Conference.

She currently serves as a full-time Transfer Specialist and EOPS/CARE Adjunct Counselor and Professor at Mt. SAC, providing transfer advising, counseling, and support services that place priority emphasis on the preparation and transfer of historically underrepresented students. For over 7 years, She has also served as Mt. SAC’s Transfer Club Advisor, a student support group grounded in student development theory that has been recognized as the 2020-2021 Club of the Year for being the most active and impactful club on campus. Lupita and Transfer Club members have also presented at the annual National Institute for the Study of Transfer Students Conference on how this type of club can normalize the transfer function of community colleges.
