25th Annual STOMP Conference | For tranfer students, by transfer students

    About

The Student Transfer Outreach and Mentor Program (STOMP) at UCLA is an educational preparation program for prospective transfer students that provides outreach and mentorship and hosts an annual conference focused on the transfer pathway to UCLA and the University of California. For enrolled UCLA students, STOMP is a student organization and club that provides a space for transfer students to connect with one another and volunteer to support the transfer community.

Each year, our dedicated student coordinators organize this conference to welcome prospective transfer students from California community colleges. This event offers participants valuable insight into the University of California transfer pathway, admission process, and student experience.

Hi! My name is Hyein, and I’m a second-year (senior) transfer student from Irvine Valley College, majoring in Education and Social Transformation, minoring in Linguistics.

This is my second year serving STOMP! We made lots of great memories last year with our 26th annual STOMP Conference and many other in-person and online events for prospective and current transfer students. I’m excited to meet all of you at our 27th STOMP Conference this year!

On campus, I’m a part of the External Relations team at KOJOBS and served as the Director of External Relations for the past year. Before UCLA, I also worked in the K-6 public schools’ music classrooms and led a non-profit career education project called SHOES (Students Helping Others through Empathy and Service) with other college students. My passion has always been working with people and helping them reach their full potential. If you share the same passion, STOMP is for you!

For fun, I play and make music sometimes. I recently started taking a jazz piano class here at UCLA, and it has been making me so happy :)

Transfer journeys are unique. We choose to take a non-traditional route to higher education and somehow succeed with little guidance. I hope our unique stories can build a strong community and be of help to those in our shoes!

Hi everyone! My name is Nicholas Armendariz, and I am a junior transfer student from East Los Angeles College, majoring in sociology with a pre-law emphasis.

I’m excited to be serving as a STOMP coordinator! As a STOMP Coordinator, it is my duty to foster a learning environment that is rooted in uplifting and supporting transfers and empowering communities.

As a proud transfer student myself, I understand the power of finding community and support. I believe that building community through shared experiences is essential, and I look forward to contributing to the growth and success of our transfer student network, which is exactly what STOMP is all about.

Outside of my academic and professional pursuits, I am deeply passionate about sneaker culture and operate a small business focused on buying and reselling footwear. What began as a personal interest has evolved into a meaningful entrepreneurial endeavor. Let me know if you want to learn more about that side of me because I am extremely passionate about the topic!

The transfer journey is often nontraditional and requires resilience, adaptability, and self-advocacy. Through STOMP, I aim to empower others by sharing resources, fostering meaningful connections, and celebrating the diverse paths that unite us at UCLA.

Hello! We are the 2025-2026 STOMP Co-Supervisors and Assistant Directors of Transfer Recruitment at UCLA Undergraduate Admission. Coming full circle as proud California community college and UCLA transfer alumni, we have the pleasure of working directly with the transfer student community, from prospective students attending a California community college to current student leaders like Hyein and Nicholas. Transfer students demonstrate remarkable grit through the challenges and opportunities that have shaped their educational experience. Each year, the STOMP Conference strives to honor these experiences by providing the motivation and instrumental support needed for a successful transfer.
